南仏・マルセイユに住む少年・マッシュは、日々、似顔絵を描いて身体の不自由な父親・ヴォスとの生活を支えていた。そのマッシュにチャンスが訪れる。市民を対象にした絵画コンテストが開催されたのだ。入選すれば1万フランという大金が手に入り、パリの美術学校で学ぶことができる。当初、マッシュは、油絵具や筆などの画材がないことで諦めていたが、幼馴染の少女・ソフィの協力で、画材道具を入手、渾身をこめて執筆活動に勤しんでいた。このままいけば締切には完成できる。そう思った矢先、画家になることに反対していた父・ヴォスが、マッシュが描いた絵画を破り捨ててしまう。締切はあと1日。万事休すだと思われたが、マッシュはあるとんでもない方法で作品を完成させた。1日で描いた作品で、マッシュは入選できるのか？そして、芸術の都・パリに行くことはできるのか？画家を目指す少年をテーマにした山田貴敏初期傑作マンガ、ついに開幕！
